City correction officers are so desperate to escape their jobs in the Big Apple’s jails that hundreds have recently joined the NYPD, The Post has learned — as even the Department of Correction’s commissioner conceded that morale is “very low.” The newest class of 555 NYPD recruits that was sworn in during a ceremony Thursday at the Police Academy contained 42 former correction officers, a law-enforcement source familiar with the matter said. #NYC #correctionofficers #NYPD #newbies #BigApple #lowmorale #555 #IQuit #2021

NY Post poll shows progressives’ push to defund NYPD not in line with Dem voters

Progressive proponents of defunding the NYPD are out of touch with the city’s Democratic electorate — with worries about crime and safety the greatest among the party’s lower-income and minority voters, a poll commissioned by The Post has found.
Opposition to last year’s $1 billion NYPD budget cut was also strongest in the crime-ridden Bronx, where more than 60 percent of respondents said they disapproved of the move by the City Council and Mayor Bill de Blasio. #Bronx #Opposition #OutOfTouch #NYPD #BudgetCut $1Billion #politicalscandal #2020 #2021
